Beloved

   There has been a new surge of interest in Toni Morrison's 1987 novel Beloved with the release of Oprah Winfrey's film version in October 1998. She promoted the film in two of her shows, which were broadcast in April 1999 in Germany (tm3). In these two spectacular programs, Ms. Winfrey interviewed the actors and director (Jonathan Demme), conducted a video conference with Toni Morrison, and discussed the film at a banquet with viewers.
