As we missed the excellent Scottish food that we
had enjoyed in Edinburgh, five “good fairies”, Sarah Benz,
Nadine Weber, Anne Schnettler, Steffi Schuldt, Alexandra Schnurr, prepared
Scottish specialities like soups, cakes and cookies for the fair visitors. Sonja
Georgi kindly helped them sell their goodies! If you couldn’t
attend the Fair, but want to try out these snacks, click here for the recipes
in the girls’ Scottish
Cookbook, which was a best-seller at the Fair!

The delicious, unique Scottish cuisine …
…or what the heck is Cranachan?
This is a question that we asked ourselves as well. Have you
ever heard the word ”Cranachan” ?
To defend our reputation as “THE GREAT SNACKBAR GROUP”, we dived into the unknown world of old Scottish recipes. There we did not only find the meaning of Cranachan (see our cookbook ), but also names like Haggis, Porridge, Shortbread and Oatmeal Raisin Cookies.
At the Scottish Fair we found some volunteers who tasted our culinary art, including the last two recipes.
The Shortbread Cake and the Honey Cake were sold as well as the Chocolate Cake and the Banana Cake. The Oatmeal Raisin Cookies and the Chocolate Chip Cookies were also great hits. Despite the heat, the visitors liked the Vegetable Soup so much that we had to prepare a second batch.
To enable them to cook and bake these and more recipes, we printed 16 individually created Scottish Cookbooks. By the end of the Fair, we had sold them all!
